Tides, currents and water levels (TCWL) can have a profound effect on navigation, harbour construction and many other marine activities. Canada has 250,000 kilometres of coastline and some of the largest tidal ranges in the world, such as the Bay of Fundy. To ensure marine safety, CHS is actively engaged in studying and measuring tides, currents and water levels at some 700 locations across Canada.
